Who is Liliana Ferreira?
Let us introduce you to Liliana Ferreira and her new song "Love Paradise". Her soft voice is something one can enjoy listing to. Liliana's voice laid perfectly over the well-produced track. Listen to the song and let us know your thoughts.
Question and Answer with Artist:
- How did you start in the music business? "I started singing when I was at school and then sang in bands in Portugal, Tenerife, and France singing covers of major artists. I always wanted to sing original songs but none of the musicians I worked with could write original songs. In 2021 I was contacted by lyricist Raymond Fry who encouraged me to record original songs. I was also encouraged by Artist Chesney Claire and her mother helped build my confidence to give it a try. With the help of Ray Fry, Chesney, and I recorded and released my first Original song 'Lonely winter' which received over 100,000 streams on Spotify. I now feel that my career in the music business has only just begun".
- How would you describe the music that you typically create? "Meaningful pop".
- What is the current project about? It's a song about when a woman meets a man for the very first time and knows instinctively that it will be the love of their life, although she doesn't yet know if he feels the same about her. Call it “Love at first sight”.
- How do you feel it will inspire others? Hopefully, it will inspire others to take a chance on love even if it may end up being a painful experience if the other person doesn't feel the same, and no matter how bad they feel their life experience is at the time, they can get through it and come out the other side a stronger person.
- What is your creative process like? My creative process begins within a quiet space and getting myself into what I call the zone. It's a state of mind where I empty my brain and observe what comes into it. I hear a melody playing in my head and the words just flow to fit the melody. I think that I may have a photographic memory because I always remember the melody and lyric once it has flowed through my mind. I don't play an instrument so I convey what I am hearing to a musician and it develops from there.
- Who would you most like to collaborate with? I would love to co-write a duet with Adele and also perform it with her.
- If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be? 'Celine Dion'
- What is one message you would give to your fans? "I hope that my songs inspire you to navigate through the difficulties you will face in life."
- What is the most useless talent you have? "I don't believe that any talent is useless".
- Do you sing in the shower? What songs? Yes. Although I just run through my own songs before going to the studio to record. What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career? I honestly don't know, because my music career is everything to me.
- Where have you performed? What are your favorite and least favorite venues? I've performed cover songs in so many places and venues but the ones that come mediately to mind were in Paris, France at the "théâtre adyar" which is very close to the Eiffel Tower and also at the Bar “Rive Droite” in central Paris.
On the Spanish Island of Tenerife at the Piramide de Arona en La playa de las Americas.
In Portugal, I performed at an open-air festival in the village of Ponte Lima called "Festas das Feiras Novas" which 1 million people attended over a 3-day period. I also performed at the famous “The music box” and Coliseu dos Recreios in Lisbon which is also known as the Lisbon Coliseum.
I don't really have any fewer favorite venues, I always checked venues out before I would accept a booking and the venues that I played at were all enjoyable.
- Do you have any upcoming shows? No, not at the moment, my entire focus is to write, record, and release more songs because until now I have only released my debut song “Lonely winter” in August 2021 and My follow-up single only recently. I have been advised that my priority should be to release more songs so that when I resume gigging again, I will be able to perform original songs instead of cover songs as I have done in the past.
- How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business? "I feel that the internet has had both a positive and negative impact on the music business, It's positive because it allows Artists a platform to showcase and promote, and sell their music worldwide. The negative is that it's created a monster like Spotify where there is no quality control and where they only pay the artist a pittance for each stream".
- What is your favorite song to perform? "I've performed many cover songs of other artists but there is nothing like performing my own songs. However, my favorite cover song to perform is 'The reason' by Celine Dion because I feel that it is a powerful song vocally and very expressive and conveys much emotion, I love singing it.
- Which famous musicians do you admire? Prince, Hendrix, Freddy Mercury, Brian May, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, David Gilmore, Paul Simon, Neil Young, and too many to mention.
- What is the most trouble you've ever gotten into? Concerning Music trouble, three years ago, before I met Ray Fry, I was contacted via Linkedin by a guy who pretended to be Victor Merrit who had produced for Michael Jackson and Bruno Mars and he scammed me for all the money that I had saved for paying for a recording studio. It hurt me a lot at the time because it was money that I had saved from working in a low-paid childcare job and I seriously considered giving up music for good. I took some consolation from the fact that he had fooled hundreds of others on Linkedin before he was exposed. However, shortly after, I foolishly signed a contract with a new indie label based in the UK and over several months I saw that all the artists who were signed to them were complaining for a number of legitimate reasons, the main one was that the label began to demand money from their artists including me. The label was also demanding 50% of the ownership (not publishing) of the copyright on songs that they didn't write. I Later showed the contract to Ray Fry and after informing me that it was ridiculously one-sided and would never stand up in a court of law, he got in touch with the label's CEO and extracted me from the contract. I now know that there are unscrupulous people who will take advantage of people like me, and I feel very fortunate that I now have Ray Fry watching my back. Ray has never charged me a dime for anything and in fact has invested some of his own money in me, which is why I trust him 100%.
- What is the best advice you’ve been given? I was given this advice by "Raymond Fry, "Strive to be the best that you can be, because the world deserves to hear what you have to say"
- If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be? " I would have Spotify pay a decent rate for streaming".
- What’s next? Ray Fry and I have been working on a massive pop ballad titled 'Loving the light'. It will be my third single which should be ready for release by end of August. The music has been recorded and I have recorded my vocals and the song is currently in the process of live drums being recorded on it. It will then be mixed and mastered for release. The song is about being in a very dark place of despair mentally and emotionally, and in desperation, crying out to heaven for the strength and purpose to get through it.
- What should the world know? The world should know that I always put my heart and soul into my songs and my passion for touching people's hearts is boundless. I want my audience to know that I am focused on getting the messages of my life experiences across to them in my music and my sincere hope is that they can relate to those experiences.
Bio:
Liliana was born in Viana do Castelo, Portugal. She was introduced to singing at age 10 when I was invited to sing at a school party, which became a regular occurrence.
At age 18, she wrote and recorded her first song 'You are my angel', although at that time she had no idea what to do with it, or how to release it. Later, a friend signed her up for 3 separate singing competitions in her Hometown, which she surprisingly won.
At the age of 21, she became the lead singer of the Portuguese band 'Roconorte' singing popular pop and rock Portuguese songs, in popular venues across the country, which she did for 3 years.
Later, at the request of 'Pink wall', a popular Pink Floyd tribute band, she moved to Tenerife and performed as the main vocalist for several seasons. Her heart was never in performing cover songs of other artists because her soul was crying out to sing original songs with a powerful message.
Liliana always dreamed of living in Paris, so she decided to move there in 2013 and within a year she was chosen to participate in a competition to represent France in the 'World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA). Unfortunately, she was unable to obtain the necessary sponsorship to travel to Hollywood, USA, in order to continue my participation.
Disappointed but not entirely defeated, In 2018 she moved to Rotterdam in Holland where she was working in childcare to support herself, and because she could not speak, sing, or understand Dutch, she found it difficult to continue with he music career. It was at this time when she was at the lowest point when Kim Herbert and Artist Chesney Claire encouraged me to fight for her dreams and have been very helpful in a number of ways. It was then that professional UK Lyricist and talent scout 'Raymond Fry' whilst scouring Youtube, stumbled across a video of me singing an improvised vocal to the Pink Floyd song 'Great Gig in the sky' played live by a talented female pianist named Erica, and he promptly got in touch with me to say that he was very impressed with my vocal range and power, adding that she was talented and that he wanted to help me progress in my career. Since meeting Ray, she released he first professional single 'Lonely winter' in August 2021, which achieved over 100,000 streams on Spotify and she has since gained tens of thousands of followers.
Ray co-wrote my second song release 'Love paradise' with platinum and Grammy-winning producer Standish Child which is doing very well. More recently, Ray suggested that it was time that we co-write a song together, and the result is what she believes to be a beautiful pop ballad titled 'Loving the light' which will be released at the end of August. Hopefully, with the loyal support of my fans and the assistance of my current mentor and manager Ray Fry, she is finally on a path to my ultimate goal of being signed to a major record label.

Lyrist Loving the light:
You came knocking at my door
In whispers through the clouds
You vowed to love me even though
I walked on stony ground
Frozen for reasons
Heartbreak carved lesions
And left me alone, searching for life, So I
Opened my heart and prayed to the sky
shared all my sorrows with tears in my eyes
Spoke every truth, and all that I hide
Surrendered my soul to the light
You sang me your songs, I listened a while
Saved every blessing from your lips divine
Turning my soul from water to wine
So you could be loving the light
What had I been running for?
I guess I was too proud
Always hiding behind closed doors
When love could not be found.
All of the shadows and demons that tried
To fracture my heart and mess with my mind
Were reasons for searching for light so I
Opened my heart and prayed to the sky
Shared all my sorrows with tears in my eyes
Spoke every truth, and all that I hide
Surrendered my soul to the light.
You sang me your songs, I listened a while
Saved every blessing from your lips divine
Turning my soul from water to wine
So you could be loving
You could be loving
You could be loving the light
Ooo Oo Ooo Oo Ooo
