Nipsey Hussle and Cardi B Top the BET Awards!

Cardi B beat the victors at the current year's BET Awards, accepting two honors: best female hip-hop artist, and Album of the year for Invasion of Privacy.

The BET Awards, which praise the best in Black Entertainment, paid tribute to the rapper Nipsey Hussle, who was shot and slaughtered in Los Angeles in March. He was named best male hip-Hop artist, and furthermore given an uncommon compassionate honor, to recognize the work he had done on social versatility in the city.

John Legend and DJ Khaled played out a melodic tribute to Hussle, and celebrity lane at the Microsoft theater in Los Angeles was turned blue, to recognize the pack shades of the Crip posse he grew up with.

Winners also included Beyoncé and Bruno Mars, who won the pop/R&B classifications, while the rap trio Migos won the best group. Their kindred Atlanta rapper Lil Baby won best new craftsman. Michael B Jordan and Regina Kelly won for acting, while Serena Williams and Stephen Curry won sports. Spike Lee's film BlacKkKlansman was named best motion picture.

British artists lost in the international categories, which were won by the Nigerian pop star Burna Boy and rising South African dance artist Sho Madjozi – they beat the UK rappers Dave, Giggs, Headie One and Octavian. In any case, Ella Mai, the British R&B vocalist who made real US progress in 2018, won the open cast a ballot Coca-Cola Viewers' Choice award to her record.
